Long time

Okay, so I know it's been a really long time since I've posted. There is a lot that has happened. We spent a wonderful week in Providence with the Dexter's for Thanksgiving. Jeff, Kevin and Kim also came and we all had a lot of fun. Then, on December 12th, Jason and Jeff both graduated! We're oh-so-proud of both of them! The Dexter clan came up to celebrate with us and Michael even stayed for a few days. He and Addie are becoming great friends - she loves to listen to him sing and play the guitar and even watch him do crazy little dances.

Now we are in Fresno with the Gonzalez clan to celebrate Christmas and we're having so much fun! Addie's personality has really come out just in time for Grandma and Grandpa Gonzalez to have a lot of fun. Not only is she better with people, but she also is attempting to crawl and has been making progress since we've been here.

Okay, so it's been awhile. Here's what's going on. Addie has been working very hard at a lot of things, mainly grabbing at anything she can get her hands on and putting them in her mouth, sitting up, and holding her head up while on her stomach. She's made a lot of progress and she tries just so hard - it's so fun to watch. She also has been making a lot more noises and she laughs a lot now - she's getting quite a fun personality. This empty chip bag was very fun, because it made noise as she grabbed it. It was then she realized that she had control of her appendages.
Jason went to another interview, so Addie and I went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Dexter. We had a lot of fun and once Addie got over the initial shock of so many people in one place, she was quite happy and particularly likes her Aunt Paige. This weekend was quite eventful. Jason had his first paid magic show. His biology teacher asked him to be the entertainment for his son's birthday party and he did a great job! It was a lot of fun. We also had our ward Halloween party and we decided to have a family theme. We all dressed up as Mexicans. We were a pretty big hit.

Addie's Blessing

Adelaide was blessed on the 14th, and it was exciting to have so much family there to see her.

A few Woohoo!s

Woohoo! #1: Jason took the DAT (Dental Admissions Test) last week for the second time and he improved almost all of his scores! We already knew he was really smart and this is just proof for the rest of the world.


Woohoo! #2: This week, Jason went to Iowa to interview with the University of Iowa School of Dentistry! AND, when he got back he faxed his new DAT scores to Indiana University. They called just an hour later and invited him to come interview in November! So far, it looks like we're going to be sticking with I-states for at least the next couple years.

Woohoo! #3: Last night, Addie slept for 7 straight hours! I woke up a couple times just to make sure that she was okay, but I could totally get used to this!
So here they both are, showing all thier brilliance.

Adelaide is 2 months old!

Addie continues to grow both physically and in personality. She weighs almost 11 pounds now and is 23 inches long! She seems to get cuter all the time and we love having her around.
Addie's favorite parts of herself are her feet and her tongue. She stares at her feet and she just loves to stick out her tongue.

The first real outfit that she was able to fit into. Obviously I was a little more excited than she was. She blew out of her diaper about 5 minutes after this picture was taken and we had to change her anyway.
Addie is finally big enough to face out of her Baby Bjorn - and she likes it (as long as we're outside and keep moving)! And she's found a new hobby of covering it in slobber - good times!

Bear Lake

Last week Addie and I went to Bear Lake to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Dexter while Jason finished up his finals. We spent some time with Paige and Taylor before they went off to girl's camp, and Allen came up for a day to help get the business going. Addie met Grandma and Grandpa Frost and even Aunt Jeri and Uncle Russ. It was all very exciting. Of all the people she met, though, her favorite was her Uncle Michael:

They had a drooling contest (which Michael won) and he decided to put himself in charge of teaching her all of the big words (like contamination and eradicate).

On the 24th, Jason was able to come down and even brought Kim so she could have some fun with us. We were all able to go to the beach, which was very cold but a lot of fun. Addie slept the whole time, while Michael attempted to swim across the lake, and then he and Kim buried Jason in the sand.

Isn't Bear Lake gorgeous? I love the blue water and the mountains surrounding the lake, it's just such a difference from Rexburg. Michael doesn't look too bad either (ooh la la!).

Yes, this is Jason. Doesn't he look . . .well, . . ? Michael and Kim were trying to make him look like a rather large woman. It doesn't show it too well here, but it was pretty awesome in person.

All in all, it was a really fun trip. We're lucky to have family so close and in such a fun place!

The Many Faces of Addie

Addie makes some pretty funny faces - here are a few of them. The only one we haven't caught on camera is her smile, which she is doing much more often now. She's so much fun!

Better late than never!



So, after a day of very little movement from the baby, we made a quick trip to the hospital make sure everything was fine. Everything seemed good until the doctor did an ultrasound and found that the baby had a heart arrythmia. After consulting with the pediatrician, they decided to keep us overnight and if they still saw the arrythmia in the morning they were going to do a c-section. After doing my blood work, they discovered that I had preeclampsia, even though I had never shown any of the signs, and decided with that and the baby's heart they would definitely go ahead with the c-section the next morning.



Just a little while later, the doctor came back in and said that the baby's heart rate was going down and so he was going to get started with the c-section in about 20 minutes.

When in the C-section unit, they gave me the anesthesia and it just so happened, it wasn't taking any effect on me. I figured, natural birth was worse than this so I just bit my lip. Jason was there helping me stay unfocused on the pain.

And, sure enough, at 1:36am on 17 June, Addie
was born! She was 8 lbs, 15 oz and 20 1/2 inches long and came out screaming.

My Talented Husband

My sister kept telling me that we should start a blog, but I resisted because I didn't think we had much to blog about. But, I've been thinking lately about what makes our family interesting. These pictures made it obvious that Jason's many talents are one thing that sets us apart:

Jason plays the guitar very well and I love when he has time to play for me.

Here's a definite talent: being able to look exactly like his dad 20 years ago. Jason's mom found these glasses and Jason had been growing out his hair . . . pretty scary, eh?

I was trying to find a picture of Jason doing magic, which is one of his greatest and most popular talents, but I couldn't find any. But I thought this showed his other magic skills. This is our nephew Jackson when we were in Berlin for Christmas. Okay, maybe I just thought it was cute!

The best talent that Jason has is his ability to calm me down and make me smile even when I'm as grumpy as can be. That's REAL talent!

The Nursery

OK - so it's not really a nursery, it's just a wall (the only wall in the house that we could dedicate totally to the baby). But, this is the first project like this that has actually turned out the way I had envisioned, so I'm pretty excited. It makes me hopeful that we might even get the rest of our lives ready in time for the baby (we'll see)!
