More Snow Fun

And just a few days after our exceptionally-nice-picnic-and-bike-riding-day, we had a real-snow-deep-enough-to-play-in kind of day. As you can see, we like both kinds of days. And really, this winter has not been as bad as we had feared it would be. We loved the break we got in Santa Fe, and even our year in Fort Collins was a break from the mid-west winter. Which is kind of a funny thing. Colorado talks big about their winter weather, and yes, they get lots of snow. But really it's nothing compared to the bitter cold, dark, perpetually snowy beast that is a the winter in the mid-west.

But as I said, this winter really hasn't been too bad. And we've enjoyed the snow and all that there is to do in it. The kids even jump on the trampoline in full snow gear and try to get the chunks of snow to break apart.
Catching snow flakes on your tongue and making snow angels are some of our favorite activities.

Picnic with Grandma

Grandma Gonzalez came for a visit while Jason was in New Mexico for a week. While she was with us, there were a few exceptionally warm days. One of those days we decided to take advantage and have a little picnic and ride bikes. It was especially exciting because the boys both got new bikes for their birthdays and we assumed that they would not get a chance to enjoy them for several months.

This girl loves her tongue right now. She's basically always cute, but the tongue takes it to a new level.

Although it was warm, it was still quite windy and the picnic did not last long since the blanket kept trying to fly away. It was still fun and we're glad we were able to get out. Hopefully next time Grandma comes the weather will be a bit better.

Dexter Celebrates 4

And now it's Dexter's turn! This kid has a tendency to make every day exciting, so his birthday was bound to be a good one. He really wanted a wand like in Harry Potter, and we've already heard all sorts of charms and spells from this guy.

He also loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Mom and Dad got super excited to find a practically new toy ship at a second hand store. He was thrilled and very surprised! He now has 2 pirate ships and we've already had some epic battles involving all of the kids.

He also really likes Star Wars, just like his brother. He wanted a Millennium Falcon cake. So, with Jason's help, that's exactly what I made. Pretty good, I think, with just one round and one square cake and no real plan except trying to make it look like a toy he got for Christmas.

I'm sure this year will be great for Dexter. He's enjoying his little preschool group and is tolerating being at home with just me and Eliana. He loves his sister, but he could definitely use more than the entertainment that we provide. He was also super-healthy at his check-up and was in the 90 something percentiles for both height and weight. He is full of energy and always coming up with stories, and singing songs. He still doesn't have much of a desire to learn anything like his alphabet or his numbers, although he's getting much better at his colors since getting a Star Wars Colors book for Christmas.

We love this kid! Happy Birthday Dex!
