Adelaide is 2!!

Yesterday was Addie's birthday, and I can hardly believe she's really 2! It's amazing how fast time goes by and how quickly these little guys change. We didn't do anything too big to celebrate since Addie was just getting over being sick and the rest of us were starting to get whatever she had. But she helped me make some cupcakes (she loves to help in the kitchen) and when Dad came home we went and rode the carousel at the mall. As an added bonus, the Chic-fil-a cow was out and we got a picture with him. It was almost as good as Disneyland!
When we got home we sang and blew out candles, ate cake and ice cream, and she opened her presents (grandparents are fabulous!). Jason finishes school this week, and hopefully we'll all be feeling better and we'll have a joint Addie's Birthday, School is Over, Summer is Here Celebration.

So now I would like to brag a bit about my genious child.
At this point her vocabulary is increasing daily; some words stick and some do not.
We're working on politeness and she's starting to catch on: she'll say please when asking for something and she will say thank and sorry at the appropriate time, but they sound like the same thing.
She thinks she's pretty funny. She accidental hurt her Dad and when we told her to say sorry, she said sorry Mama. We shouldn't have laughed, but we did. And now everytime she's supposed to apologize to her dad, she says sorry Mama with this little grin on her face.
She knows her alphabet pretty well and can name all the uppercase letters with about a 90% accuracy.
Her favorite number is two, it's actually the only one she says sometimes. Although she sometimes says one and three, mostly she counts "two, two, two".
Her favorite song right now is Baby Bumblebee, but she also really likes Yellow Submarine and the Alphabet song.
She loves just about any book and sometimes I find her sitting in her room with a pile of books. I've also found her "reading" to her brother, but she only does it when she thinks I'm not looking.
She loves to be outside and is the reason that this year's Mothers Day flowers are still alive; I can only put a teeny amount of water in the watering can with how many times she wants to water the flowers. And even then I have to say no and tell her the plants can't have anymore water today.
She still won't let me do anything with her hair. So I've been keeping her bangs trimmed so it's at least out of her eyes and I let her brush it because she doesn't like me to do that either. She sure is lucky to have such beautiful hair! I wish I did that little to myself and still looked so cute!
Potty Training is going slowly. Mostly because I'm not good at remembering to ask and help her remember. So the only time she uses the potty right now is when we're somewhere other than home and right after she gets into bed.
Addie loves her brother and loves to help out (most of the time). She loves to have fun, to dance and to sing.
She's a wonderful girl and we're so glad that she is part of our family!

Addie is so cute. She is definitely an individual.
Yes, I would say that going to the mall without having to wait in any lines to ride the rides or to see the people dressed up, definitely qualifies as better than Disneyland.
I am sure she had an amazing birthday.
Happy Birthday Addie, we love you!

Addie is so adorable! She seems like a fun little kid. It is too bad that we do not live closer because I think that Elijah and Addie would have a blast together.

I love the entry, so full of detail. Delightful to get a little more information than we get on those weekly video chats. Addie is a smart little girl and cute as a button. We are so excited to see you all in July.

Quite the little lady. YOu are doing a great job with her. She is adorable and her hair could qualify her for the next Shirley Temple. So fun!
