The big B-day

I turned 30 a few weeks ago.  Yes, 30.  And I am really starting to feel old.  Not only does my brain never work the way it should, but I keep having experiences where I realize I'm older than I thought.  Here's an example: I just finished the 2nd Hunger Games book (I know, I'm a little behind the times) so I looked up the movie online to see when it was going to come out.  In looking this up, I learned two things: 1. The movie will be out at the end of next year, and 2. I am closer in age to the actress that plays Effie Trinket than to the main characters!  Why was this shocking to me?  Mostly because I still think of myself in my low-mid twenties.  I know that the actual characters in the book are like, 17. But even knowing that, I feel closer in age to them than to the actual adults in the story.  Yes, I know I have three children.  Yes, I know that my hair with it's plethora of silver strands probably makes me look years older than I already am.  And maybe now that I'm out of my twenties entirely, I'll have to realize that I am no longer 25, but who knows.
Anyway, my birthday.  We didn't do too much this year to celebrate.  I got to do some very rare selfish shopping thanks to my wonderful mom and mother in law.  They are great and always make sure I take time for myself.  Jason and I went out to dinner and I made myself a yummy cake.  Which of course are the only pictures we've got.  Here you go.

We really put 30 candles on.

Yes, Batman was at my birthday party.  I am a lucky girl.
Dexter really had no idea what was going on.

The cake.  Peanut Butter cake with chocolate frosting in-between the layers and peanut butter frosting (the best part of the whole thing) on top.  I made the layers different colors just for fun, because I could.

Addie liked it!l.;

17 is overrated. You still look and are young and youthful. Glad you had a great day. We love you.

Are you kidding, I'm with Katlena, you don't look old!
Besides you can take great pride knowing that I am always going to be older than you are.

Oh, and I'm with you, I think of myself in my mid twenties. It was a good time.

Getting older really does stink! You are lucky though you don't look a day older than 24! Seriously! You are adorable. I love your cake. I want the recipe so I can make one to help get me through my next birthday. I am glad that you had a good day and that you even got to be a little selfish. You definately deserve to it!
