Another hair story

I feel as if I've posted several stories about Addie and her hair.  How can this child's hair be such source of entertainment, even if it is only her family that is entertained?  I don't know, but it is definitely a source of drama around our house.  After years of fighting with me and not letting me do ANYTHING with her hair, she was finally letting me do fun things.  At least for church on Sunday.  She would ask for a ponytail or a braid or pigtails.  She looked so cute.  She aslo has been saying lately that she wants to grow her hair out long like Rapunzel.  She has been saying this for months and has been the motivation to actually get her hair brushed every day (I would tell her we'd have to cut it if she didn't at least let me take care of it).
So we were very surprised when one Sunday while playing dress up with her brother, she came and said she wanted to have short hair like Snow White.  I was okay with this since I knew shorter hair would be easier to deal with, but I was pretty sure she would change her mind as soon as we did it.  We were talking to Grandma Karlena on Skype when she brought the scissors to me and said she wanted to do it right then.  Karlena, Kim, and myself all tried to convince her to wait just until tomorrow to see if that's what she still wanted.  She wasn't convinced.  So, I put the scissors away and closed the door and told her that I would cut her hair if she really wanted me to, but she would have to wait.  And not to do it herself.
A little while later it was time to say goodbye to our Gonzalez relatives and Addie was nowhere to be found.  I knew what was probably going down.  Sure enough, hiding behind my bed was Addie with the scissors.  This is what she was able to do before I got there:

Jason was really upset, mostly because he likes her hair long and because she was going to get what she wanted because she disobeyed.  I was not too worried about that part.  She had to stay in her room until bedtime, and she definitely understood that what she did was wrong.  And then, the next day when I cut her hair she was not happy because it was much shorter than Snow White's.  I'm sure this is just the first of many fun hair experiences that she will have in her lifetime.

I have been waiting for this post. I'm sorry, but as the grandmother, I think this is a priceless story and very entertaining. I think you are right. There are likely many great stories ahead. I look forward to every one. :)

I am sorry Jodie! That stinks. But I think all little girls cut their hair themselves at some point. I am glad that she didn't go super short. It looks like you were able to make it work and still look cute!

Oh boy! She's got spirit! I'm glad she didn't cut her ear off. And I hope she doesn't try it again!
