Birthday Girl

Adelaide is now three, and (as she reminds us daily) is getting bigger and growing so strong. Addie loves to get dressed up, she loves to read books, she loves to play outside (especially with her friend Hyrum), she loves all things princess, and playing with her Sally Doll or in her play kitchen, and she loves to be dramatic.
Addie loves to show how strong she is; usually by climbing on something or pulling herself up on anything and everything. She likes to hop, skip, gallop and jump, and she loves to dance. She will dance with her brother or by herself (but of course wants someone to be watching).
She's starting to be less picky with her food and will try more things than she used to. If you ask her, though, all she will say is "I like milk and juice and water." And honestly, she would be quite content if I let her live completely off of fluids (mostly milk).
Her taste in music has recently changed also. Since there are no more naps (or few and far between) we don't listen to Bob Marley much anymore. Addie has a couple of CDs in the car that have kids songs on them, but she also likes Queen quite a bit and even knows the words to 5 or 6 songs. Jason is now trying to get her excited about the Beatles.
Addie definitely has her own sense of style. Most of the time she looks great, even if she doesn't match or has on more layers than any person needs.
For example, for her birthday I made her a birthday outfit. A skirt and then I sewed some matching flowers onto a t-shirt. She thought they were wonderful and even called them her Princess Outfit (it doesn't really resemble anything princess). But when it came time for her party, did she want to wear it? No. She chose a different skirt so that she could show off her Hello Kitty t-shirt (that she normally wears for pajamas). Here is Princess Addie on her big day:
We kept the party pretty simple. We had pizza and a fruit plate and a veggie plate and then we decorated cupcakes at the end. Here is Addie making the fruit look lovely. She did such a good job helping me.
Addie also wanted to help 'set the table' for her friends. She used food from her kitchen and set it out very nicely (notice a tiara next to each place).

The party bunch. See everyone's lovely jewelry? That was our first activity. Also note that there was only 1 boy in attendance for most of the party since Andres was taking a nap (blessedly)through it. But we couldn't have a party without our good friend Hyrum.
The cupcake decorating was an interesting experience. Some (Hyrum) didn't really care what they looked like and just wanted to eat the cupcakes. Others, like Addie, wanted the cupcake to look just like the real ones before they would even think about eating it. We even had one who decorated it and then decided she didn't want to eat it. But it seems like everyone had a good time.
Here are the leftovers that Addie and I decorated after everyone went home.

I had a little bit too much fun making this banner. Hobby Lobby had all thier paper at 50 percent off and I got a little carried away.
She really got quite spoiled this year between the party, two very loving and generous Grandmas, and Mom and Dad's meager presents. She got a lot of really good stuff and we feel blessed to have so many friends and family that take care of us.
